Commonly known as Botox, botulinum toxin is a purified protein of the toxin normally
produced by Clostridium botulinum. Wrinkles and fine lines develop over time by the
repeated contraction of facial muscles. By injecting Botox precisely in the specific muscles,
the nerve impulse travelling to the muscle is blocked. This blockage prevents contraction,
therefore relaxing the muscles. The most common areas treated are the frown lines,
forehead lines and crows feet. Typically, you will see an improvement in the appearance of
fine lines and wrinkles within 1 week following treatment, the maximum effect being
observed 5 weeks after injection. The treatment effect can be seen for up to 4 months after
injection. We will review your treatment to ensure that optimum results have been
achieved.
Dermal fillers are gel-like substances mainly containing hyaluronic acid which is found
naturally in the body. They are injected into the skin or lips to improve the appearance of
lines, correct volume loss or alter proportions. The results are immediate and last for 6-18
months.
